Degradation Description
The outlet (downstream end) of the Lyman Viaduct was in imminent danger of failure due to the scour hole undermining of the structure footings. Additionally, inside the viaduct, the joints between the concrete sections had deteriorated and were in need of repairs. The erosion at the outlet end of this viaduct created a 15’ deep scour hole that had blocked the upstream passage of fish within Dickinson Creek. The viaduct was constructed in 1912-13.
