Degradation Description
An aging pipe that carries tidal water to and from this system had become partially collapsed and completely blocked, cutting off tidal flow to the connected marsh and causing it to slowly degrade. The adjacent inland (non-tidal, freshwater) wetlands and coastal grassland had also become overrun with non-native invasive plants.
