Degradation Description
An 8-foot high tidal dam in the Saugatuck River in Westport, CT, blocks the passage of fish. A fishway was installed in 1997, but successful operation was limited to low-mid tides only. Excessive flooding of the fishway entrance at high tides, combined with the width of the Saugatuck River at this site decrease successful operation of this existing fishway.
